Generally speaking, ecotourism focuses on volunteering, personal growth, and learning new ways to live on the planet; typically involving travel to destinations where flora, fauna, and cultural heritage are the primary attractions.<\/p>\n<p> By using local guides, local volunteers, local food preparation, locally owned hotels and businesses, to name just a few, MayanTriathlon hopes to boost the local economy and promote sustainable events on Peten. For example, finisher&rsquo;s trophies are locally crafted and produced by local artisans.<\/p>\n<p> Runner&rsquo;s and volunteers will be encouraged to participate in the trash pickup after the race.
